Hows that brace? I had a rod put in my back and had to wear one for a while. They really suck in hot humid weather. I hope you have an A/C. I was up on a ladder all afternoon yesterday hoping not to pull a C.G.

Occupational/Physical therapy is fun. There was a time in my life about 3 years ago where I was in the hospital. A lot. On life support, off it. Yadda yadda. It took a lot out of me. Of course, I didn't realize just how much it took out of me. The therapist told me that simple things like bathing myself, walking, eating and the like were going to be extremely difficult. She was right.

A few days after being brought out of the medically induced coma (those are fun and a little trippy) the therapist and a large man came to take me for my first walk. Walk was a strong word. I found out later on that the large man was there to catch me if I fell. I had no idea how little strength I had. I shuffled with a walker, strapped to the large man, to the nurses station. As I turned around very slowly, I attempted to come crashing to the ground. The large man, thankfully, prevented this.

It literally took months to get to a point where I didn't need an assist device while I walked. Showering those first few weeks took all the days energy I had and walking was a joke. Slowly, I got bad to being able to be relatively normal. It took a long time but was worth it. My best advice (if you don't mind me giving it) is listen not only to your caregivers but also your body. Realize it's limitations and don't push too hard. You'll get through this and you will be a rock star.

Good luck to you sir.

Things have been going great for me so far. Everyday is measurably better than the last as my range of motion and strength return.

The brace sucks. Thankfully I installed the a/c before all this happened.
